[20:00]DWRL: Okay, what I'm personally missing is tabbed interface in some places (kate/kwrite mostly, to be honest). This would be something I'd love to look into medium term.
[20:00]DWRL: Regarding facelifting, I'd like to help with a new icon set and a theme (let's say using qtcurve or such), in a more 'modern' (i.e, flatish/minimalist/neomorphic) style.
[20:00]DWRL: My basic idea for icons is taking general symbolics of CrystalSVG, since they are classics by now, and make it feel more like fluent or oxygen. This would let us keep some of our inherent visual DNA, while getting a more modern look.
[20:00]DWRL: Is there already a concept or direction for stuff like that? I see f.e LupusRubrum contributing a lot to artwork, would this need to coordinate here so I don't step on any toes?

[23:43]micheleC: @DWRL: LupusRubrum is mimproving existing icons (clean up, add transparency, ...) but there is no problem if you create a new modern set with a different name. For example I use Masalla icons on my system. A new set would be an alternative option for users. And I think a modern icon set would look good
[23:45]micheleC: tabs in Kate is not as straightforward. There is already some code in Kate for it but it is disabled. The main reason is that tabs in kate works a bit different from how most users would expect. It is not "1 tab for 1 document" but rather "1 tab can have multiple view and show different documents", like in tdevelop
[23:46]micheleC: there is a tabbar plugin that emulates "1 tab for 1 document", you may want to look into it.
[23:46]micheleC: but yeah, if you want toinvest time into improving tab support in Kate, feel free to do so and we will review the code
