[17:53] | q4osuser: Hello. I'm using TDE in Q4OS. When I go to "My Computer" / "Storage Media" / Some local disk / and click some .mp4 file -- TDE starts something like `mpv system:/media/sda1/somefile.mp4`, which obviously, doesn't play anything. :( Does that count as a bug in TDE? Is there a known way to fix it? |
[17:54] | q4osuser: Technically MPV is defined in /usr/share/applications/mpv.desktop like `mpv -- %U`, so it should support URLs... just not the `system:/` urls. Is there a way to tell TDE to run MPV with URL for e.g. `http://...`, but convert it to local file path for `system:`? |
[18:30] | SlavekB: q4osuser, it seems that this is the same problem, such as reported (with misleading name) in issue TDE/tdebase#224 |

[18:33] | drez: [00:59:18] <drez> does TDE come with the old KDE 3 sound effects? |
[18:51] | q4osuser: SlavekB, Yes! That looks like it. Except I thought the bug is in the code TDE uses to process associations from .desktop files. I mean maybe it could just read the list of supported protocols from the .desktop file and convert "media:/..." to a local path if the "media:" protocol is not supported by the app? |
[18:52] | q4osuser: (e.g. mpv's .desktop file has the line: `X-KDE-Protocols=ftp,http,https,mms,rtmp,rtsp,sftp,smb`) |
[18:54] | SlavekB: This is a very good note! I didn't know there is such a value in desktop files. |
[19:03] | SlavekB: Drez, what do you mean "sound effects"? aRts is present in TDE as well as it was in KDE3. |
[19:04] | drez: SlavekB: like, the interface's sound feedback |
[19:09] | SlavekB: Sure - these are the possibility of setting system events using KNotify - including audio notification. |
[19:11] | drez: oh, awesome |
