[08:07]ztx: @SlavekB, when you opened Login Manager did tdesu window showed up? Does it look the same? https://0x0.st/-hFz.png
[08:07]ztx: I'm totally confused and couldn't find anything on the internet
[08:11]ztx: Basically, I have to chown the .ICEauthority file to myself everytime something asks for root authorization and I proceed with it, or else TDE will freak out.
[08:24]micheleC: @ztx: yes, that tdesu window shows up
[08:25]micheleC: I am also seeing strange things on a normal user. do you see any dcop related error by chance?
[08:25]ztx: yes
[08:25]ztx: I do
[08:25]micheleC: thanks
[08:25]micheleC: what's your distro?
[08:25]ztx: chown the ~/.ICEauthority to yourself in order to fix it
[08:25]ztx: Atrix Linux (with OpenRC init)
[08:26]micheleC: ok thanks
[08:26]micheleC: it seems it is something we will need to look into. thanks for the heads up
[08:27]ztx: awesome, ty
[08:33]micheleC: @ztx: can you confirm the following behavior?
[08:33]micheleC: 1) logout + login
[08:33]micheleC: 2) launch Trinity Control center, no issues. close TCC
[08:33]micheleC: 3) launch Login manager -> tdesu window -> login -> login manager opens. Close the window
[08:33]micheleC: 4) launch Trinity Control center again, DCOP issues reported and TCC does not open
[08:38]ztx: yes, the problems arise when you do anything as root via tdesu (if you actually input a right password and proceed with it). Also, if you don't chown ~/.ICEauthority back and restart TDE it will not launch until you change the owner of .ICEauthority (it shows some different errors, you might wanna check it). Oh, and yeah, this might be important - I don't have any display manager, I launch
[08:38]ztx: TDE via "startx /opt/trinity/bin/starttde"
[08:39]ztx: but yes, what your steps are repoducable on my end
[08:39]ztx: *but yes, your steps
[08:40]micheleC: ok thanks
[08:40]micheleC: if you remove tdesu from your distro, do you still see the same issue?
[08:45]ztx: hm, I can only remove the "tde-tdesudo" package, but I installed it after I faced this problem and it didn't change anything. Removing it also changed nothing. Part of which package tdesu is? I installed TDE via repository for archlinux
[08:46]ztx: can I just... move the binary somewhere else for a moment? Is that a good idea?
[08:46]ztx: it's in /opt/trinity/bin
[08:52]ztx: here's what I have installed from the repo: https://0x0.st/-hFZ.txt

[08:59]micheleC: yes, I meant the tdesudo package, sorry
[09:00]micheleC: not tdesu

[09:18]rendernode: Hello, guys, can I ask about another distro, not from the main list of supported ones?
[09:20]ztx: are there any configuration files for tdesu?
[09:21]ztx: @rendernode, what's your distro?
[09:22]rendernode: Alma Linux, because Centos 8 is RIP for workstation.
[09:30]micheleC: I don't think there are any special config file for tdesu
[09:30]micheleC: although I have not checked tbh
[09:38]rendernode: AlmaLinux is a completely binary compatible fork of RHEL 8. And when I try to run the described installation, I get an error. https://textsaver.flap.tv/lists/4hmw
[09:47]rendernode: I wouldn't ask if RedHut didn't kill Centos, and there are other options for the workstation besides forks. And Alma, and other forks, only has a Gnome. And the gnome is not for work, gnome is for beautiful, colored snot on the monitors.
[10:21]ztx: You did add the right trinity repository for your version of RHEL, did you?
[10:26]ztx: you're missing the "flac" package in repositories
[10:26]rendernode: @ztx Yes, I just repeat all steps from https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/RedHat_Trinity_Repository_Installation_Instructions
[10:26]ztx: it might be Alma's thing
[10:27]ztx: look closely to your messages, from top to bottom, the missing dependency is "flac"
[10:29]ztx: I never used RHEL distros, maybe you don't have all the repos enabled?
[10:31]rendernode: give me some time, I'll check on a test computer. Sorry right away, I'm a 3D guy, and some things are difficult for me.

[12:25]rendernode: OK. Thanks @ztx I was able to completely install TDE. And of course there were dependency problems. But they are defeated. I will attach a link https://textsaver.flap.tv/lists/4hn9 with the problems and their solutions. After installation there was a problem with two monitors and I don't even know where to dig. The setting works strangely, sometimes it confuses monitors by numbers, when applying new settings, one monitor switche
[12:25]rendernode: s to 16 colors. On the test machine I have two, and on the main workstation there are three, I think she will just go crazy there. But this is not important, you can also defeat the setting, but everything is reset to its previous, incorrect form, immediately after the restart. The most annoying thing is that in the previous version, the multi-monitor setting worked perfectly, apparently, something broke. I will try to understan
[12:25]rendernode: d later what this instability is about.
