[07:26]agneli: any idea how to get the core dump for tde_greeter, please? :)
[07:26]agneli: when I start tdm it technically does not crash really
[07:26]agneli: so no core dump
[07:35]agneli: I am even getting a nice window in tdm informing me about tde_greeter and SIGSEV and crash
[07:36]agneli: however when i press create report I am getting a message about the impossibility of creating the backtrace...

[08:29]denk: agneli: make sure your system allows you to generate a core file globally, check the output of ulimit -a
[08:30]denk: also you can use gdb to attach the working process and wait the signal
[08:30]denk: gdb will stop the process, then you can generate a core dump from gdb

[09:54]agneli: i need to use gdb I guess
[09:55]agneli: division by 0 in a basic C test program does create nice core file
[09:55]agneli: thank you denk
[10:02]denk: if I remember correctly tdm_greet tarted by tdm which started from starttde script that could disable core dumps
[10:02]denk: *started
[10:02]denk: or so
[10:08]agneli: yes your memory serves you right denk
[10:08]agneli: this is exactly how it is
[10:08]agneli: i am skipping starttde script though
[10:09]agneli: i believe starttde sript is used by startx if you are not using any dm
[10:09]agneli: can I somehow enable core dumps for the tdm_greeter. please?

[11:00]denk: agneli: I debugged it using gdb, I added sleep(20) to the main function, started the processes and attach via gdb
[11:01]denk: next steps depend on what you need
[11:43]agneli: i need to understand why tdm_greeter crashes
[11:43]agneli: :)
[11:46]denk: attach gdb to the process and you will do it
[11:48]agneli: thank you for your great belief in me denk :)

[18:29]agneli: guys, why tdm changes the core dump settings? can I influence it somehow?
[18:30]agneli: dgb does not seem of any use
[18:30]agneli: i have to load tdm there
[18:30]agneli: it just forks the greeter (I think) informs me about it and that is all
