[14:43]Calvin: hey guys
[14:43]Calvin: using Konqueror - clicking on Configure gives me an empty settings page. Am I missing a package or something?
[14:44]Calvin: have a hunch I remember I ran into this before - something with tdesettings?
[14:44]Calvin: any idea where to dig first?
[14:46]SlavekB: Configure should open Trinity Control Center => on deb based distributions it is package kcontrol-trinity
[14:47]Calvin: OK. Let me check that.
[14:47]Calvin: kcontrol-trinity is already the newest version (4:14.0.13-0debian11.0.0+0).
[15:01]SlavekB: tdeio settings module is a part of tdebase-tdeio-plugins-trinity
[15:01]SlavekB: do you have a full TDE session running?
[15:03]Calvin: I think that's the issue, I am using konqueror standalone with i3.
[15:04]SlavekB: I'm assuming that when you run kcontrol it will also be empty?
[15:04]Calvin: Yes
[15:04]Calvin: can I kick off a session as part of my i3 startup script?
[15:08]SlavekB: You can set it to use i3 as window manager instead of twin when starting a TDE session.
[15:08]Calvin: I'm not sure I would like to do that, I only use konqueror and kmail really.
[15:09]Calvin: it's just an adjustment to my setup. I'm not using a (I don't know it's called) login screen, i just kick off with startx.
[15:10]SlavekB: There is a "known problem" that when the full session is not started, some XDG variables are not set and tdecm modules are not found.
[15:11]Calvin: I see... can I just run starttde?
[15:12]Calvin: OK... starttde seems to work, well except it spawns a bunch of things - that's OK I think. now kcontrol works.
[15:18]Calvin: SlavekB: so tdecmshell --list would return nothing without the environment setup right?
[15:18]SlavekB: Yes exactly. If there are no properly set environmnet variables, then tdecmshell --list will find no modules.
[15:19]Calvin: what variables does it depend on? I may be easier to just hard code this into my startup script.
[15:21]SlavekB: I'm not sure which one because when I tried it for remote application launch via X forwarded via SSH, it didn't give me results :(
[15:22]SlavekB: I assumed XDG_CONFIG_DIRS and XDG_DATA_DIRS.
[15:22]Calvin: ah
[15:22]SlavekB: But that seemed insufficient.
[15:22]Calvin: yeah, I think overall my entire system has been bonked for about 5 years. A lot of my stuff randomly doesn't work like this... all down to changing session things in linux
[15:22]Calvin: probably xdg is part of it.
[15:26]BobSlacker has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[15:26]Calvin: SlavekB: thanks, thinks are now working at least to get me moving again. Appreciate the help, and as always... the many years of dedication :- )
[15:27]SlavekB: I'm glad it helped.

[15:30]Calvin: one more question, is there any support for, mouse based hotkeys? IE: mapping back/forward mouse buttons in TDE?
[15:31]Calvin: that's how I got onto this, I want to back/forward via mouse button 8/9 in konq:-)
[15:32]SlavekB: you can try to set it by using khotkeys
[15:33]SlavekB: ...is is also as a module in TCC :)
[15:47]Calvin: Ok thank you I will look.
