[01:49]wirlaburla[x]: What is up you absolute badasses! You crazy and based desktop individuals! Using the best desktop ever.
[01:50]wirlaburla[x]: I have converted a fellow friend to the Trinity desktop. He noticed there is absolutely no option for changing the pointer speed. There is acceleration, but no speed option.
[01:51]wirlaburla[x]: I looked back into KDE3 history and it seems this just wasn't ever added to the control panel. Maybe I'm missing something here, but I cannot find anything on pointer speed either.

[07:25]pluto2023: Hi there. Just found a bug in newest trinity 14.1.1: Go into trinity-control-center >> Desktop >> Window Behavior and hit the tab "Active Borders". Change the option from "deactivated" to "Switch desktop". Afterwards click on apply and log-off. After next log-in all window-borders and tray-icons are missing. To get them back you have to erase /home/user/.trinity/share/config/twinrc manuall. At next log-in the window-behavi
[07:25]pluto2023: tings are all gone but you have window-borders and tray-icons back!
[07:25]pluto2023: It took me forever to figure it out. So please make use of my finding.
[07:26]pluto2023: I figured it out on a fresh install of devuan with trinity desktop on top. So all configs were fresh.

[07:51]pluto2023: Just found another bug: Somewhere $LD_PRELOAD is set to "/opt/trinity/lib/kgtk/libkgtk2.so:". This stops programs like firefox and chromium from working. The error is: "(Firefox-esr:8903): Gtk-ERROR **: 08:47:15.507: GTK+ 2.x symbols detected. Using GTK+ 2.x and GTK+ 3 in the same process is not supported Trace/breakpoint trap"
[07:52]pluto2023: export LD_PRELOAD="" helps to make these programs work again, on the commandline.
[07:53]pluto2023: I really would like to know where thez LD_PRELOAD-variable is configured wrong in the system.
[07:56]pluto2023: so right now, the only work-around is to rename the file "/opt/trinity/lib/kgtk/libkgtk2.so" to stop it from getting pre-loaded. This way I can start firefox again from the trinity-desktop...

[07:58]micheleC: Hi @pluto2023
[07:59]micheleC: regarding the LD_PRELOAD is it possible you have both gtk2 and gtk3 trinity packages installed, which is often known to cause issues
[07:59]micheleC: you can search on the mailing list archives and you will find several mails about similar problems.
[07:59]micheleC: or you can write a new email to the user mailing list
[08:00]micheleC: you can try removing those gtk2/gtk3 trinity packages and firefox should work nicely. I use it daily, no prob
[08:04]micheleC: regarding the Windows Behavior -> Switch desktop bug, I can confirm that :-o
[08:09]micheleC: but you don't need to delete twinrc at all. Just login and disable the option, logout and login. Borders and decorations are back

[15:34]pluto2023: regarding to desktop-switching-bug: I just noticed, when deleting /home/user/.trinity/share/config and re-login, trinity was working again. So it was pretty difficult to figure out which file actually caused the problem. After many trial-and-errors, moving single files from tha t folder to a backup-folder and back, I found out the problemtatic file...and at least the problematic setting. A logging-function for trinity was
[15:34]pluto2023: ly good idea! On another computer I have different trinity-problems but can't trae them back, e.g: Dolphin constantly crashing when setting "sort by date" and saving this as default, or a graphical error-message at every boot-up I can't get rid off, for years now. There is nothing in the logs! Most annoying: keyboard-switching is broken on my other computer. It's set correctly but I have to switch manually to let trinity a
[15:34]pluto2023: he settings, every time after log-in. There are so many other problems, though trinity is actually the best desktop, afaik. I'm using it for years now, and hope a lot more to come.
[15:37]pluto2023: regarding to gtk2/3: I'll try to find the faulty package. Could this be related to k3b's missing icons? On my desktop-pc I have this problem. Would be nice to hunt that problem down.

[16:49]pluto2023: @micheleC: I can confirm that deinstalling the package "kgtk-qt3-trinity" resolves the $LD_PRELOAD-Problem (Gtk2/3-conflicts cause programs like firefox or chrome to crash at startup)!
