[02:51]micheleC: tdmdistrc is distro specific and probably many distros don't provide it anymore
[02:51]micheleC: it allows a distro to provide specific settings for tdm compared to the standard one
[02:52]micheleC: @rav: try holding Ctrl when changing volume, it should have small steps.
[02:53]micheleC: as for brightness, especially on old laptop, the amount of the step may depend on the hardware. Newer laptops usually have plenty of steps and offer better control

[04:05]neoncortex: there is a way to make kpdf open relative links to files? Say I create a tex file, and use a url like: \url{../file/name}. For some reason, kpdf can't open this, and say it is an invalid link, but other readers can open it, like zathura, etc.
[04:05]neoncortex: well, obviously I compile the tex file to pdf, and open in kpdf xD
[04:07]neoncortex: s/a url/an url/

[09:14]agneli: still noting
[09:14]agneli: i am configuring X in amy different ways
[09:15]agneli: and I do not see any display related options in tdmrc

[10:34]agneli: # See tdm.options(5) for an explanation of the available options.
[10:34]agneli: man tdm.options
[10:34]agneli: No manual entry for tdm.options
[10:34]agneli: ach
[10:34]agneli: 5
[10:34]agneli: OK
[10:34]agneli: no, man 5 tdm.options says the same
[10:34]agneli: this is on q4os
[10:35]agneli: I do not have tdm.options file at all on my gentoo

[11:09]rav: my problem is I can't get GTK look like TDE
[11:11]m1k3: My problem is that I can't use TDE on my work computer
[11:11]rav: but I wonder why one package is trinity/tde-gtk-qt-engine and another called trinity/tde-gtk3-tqt-engine
[11:11]rav: why tqt?
[11:14]rav: "use my tde style in gtk2 / gtk3 applications" - all set
[11:14]agneli: m1k3: why, please?
[11:14]agneli: no msd card slot? :)
[11:14]agneli: depends of course what you are doing
[11:15]agneli: for me it works perfectly
[11:15]m1k3: Why I can't use it? The company I work for has the laptop locked down, unfortunately.
[11:15]agneli: o365 works
[11:15]rav: font increased - no effect - but wait... maybe my browser uses something else?...
[11:15]agneli: uefi as well?
[11:15]agneli: no option to boot of sth else?
[11:15]m1k3: Yeah, bios is locked
[11:16]m1k3: Can't even boot live USB
[11:16]m1k3: It's fine, I use a KVM switch to go from my work computer to my personal computer.
[11:17]rav: m1k3: I feel that may be due to different/custom dpi set (talking about icon size)
[11:19]m1k3: Oh, yeah - dpi came to mind too after I responded to rav
[11:21]m1k3: Oh wow, I need more coffee. Sorry rav, thought I was talking to agneli. Ugh.
[11:21]m1k3: rav, you're probably right about that.
[11:21]m1k3: I have a wide screen but maybe you have a high dpi
[11:22]m1k3: This is why one shouldn't IRC shortly after waking up
[11:23]m1k3: The new window tiling functionality in 14.1.3 is great!
[11:24]m1k3: I hope to be able to map the tiling to keys someday
[11:25]rav: interesting - hybrid suspend
[11:28]m1k3: Hey SlavekB
[11:29]denk: he is locked like a mutex
[11:29]m1k3: What does that even mean?
[11:29]denk: nothing, I just play the words
[11:30]denk: but developpers can understand it
[11:30]m1k3: That's actually not bad...is that like single threaded or something?
[11:30]m1k3: Thanks for teaching me a new word
[11:31]m1k3: Ah, ok I get it now
[11:31]denk: are you talking about mutex?
[11:31]m1k3: Yeah, reading about it
[11:32]denk: huh... ok, forget it
[11:32]m1k3: Why? I agree with you, it's a good word.
[11:33]rav: tde does not remember state of screen backlight, good it remembers state of volume set... otherwise I would be deaf after few tests of login
[11:34]m1k3: I shut off all the desktop sounds. Not really my thing.
[11:34]rav: I used to do that for 20 years, but the turned out quite funny... in TDE :D
[11:35]denk: are you still able to work in such noise?
[11:35]denk: I can't do it at all
[11:44]agneli: i am kinda sure you can make tde remember backlight
[11:44]agneli: i power setting or something
[11:55]agneli: guys, tdmrc
[11:56]agneli: is compositor= equals to compositor="", please?
[12:03]denk: no, it is not by the code in tqsettings.cpp
[12:33]rav: denk: I'm testing TDE for fun so no problem
[12:34]rav: agneli: I installed modular starting from tde-base, so I may be missing something
[13:06]micheleC has joined
[13:07]micheleC: @m1k3: you can tile windows with DCOP. so with a bit of scripting, you can tight that to keyboard shortcuts. That's one thing I also have to do sooner or later
[13:27]micheleC has quit (Ping timeout: 246 seconds)
[14:21]agneli: denk: so compositor= means default one and compositor="" none?
[14:21]agneli: i have no means to look at the code now
[14:23]denk: agneli: tde libs (or apps) can parse it after the reading by tqt
[14:26]denk: probably an app interprets both variants as an empty string
[14:40]m1k3: micheleC: Good point! Totally forgot about that.
[17:37]agneli: denk: thanks, I will try using q4os tdmrc anyway ;)
[17:40]denk: agneli: you can try a quick test: modify a working line by adding double quotes and test the result
[17:41]agneli: i also wonder how does my issues relate to tde version
[17:41]agneli: i have this live ebuild
[17:42]agneli: development
[17:42]agneli: and q4os has 14.1.1
[17:43]denk: join the maintainers and send them your fix
[17:47]agneli: I am not sure I am getting you, I have no fix :(
[17:48]agneli: also X server is differen X.Org X Server 1.21.1.13 vs X.Org X Server 1.21.1.7
[17:53]denk: jois us and we will teach you how to control the Sun :)
[17:53]denk: aka illumos

[19:49]a-865: khelpcenter?
[19:52]a-865: yup
[21:19]m1k3: Anyone use vim in Konsole and have an errant "q" in the command line?
