[14:28] | agneli: krushia: how it went? |
[14:28] | agneli: which version you were emerging?? |
[14:29] | agneli: live builds? ot one of the 14.1.x? |
[14:29] | agneli: i have issues with 14.1.1 on 100% updated gentoo |
[14:30] | agneli: cups too new... |
[14:33] | krushia: 14.1.2, and the only problems I had were 1. htdig not building (which I fixed with a patch but I noticed hldig is in the tdm repo so maybe the intent was to pull in that instead), and 2. tdm failing on /var/tmp/portage/trinity-base/tdm-14.1.2/work/tdebase-trinity-14.1.2/tdm/backend/dm.c:1719:9: error: implicit declaration of function ‘pthread_setname_np’ |
[14:34] | agneli: krushia: patch for htdig? |
[14:34] | agneli: i just defined environment for it |
[14:34] | agneli: so it uses some shit old gnu c standard |
[14:34] | krushia: from https://bugs.gentoo.org/874429 |
[14:35] | krushia: but hldig is a fork that fixes this stuff and its in the tdm repo, so i think the intent is to use that but some ebuild has a typo |
[14:37] | agneli: idk, wotks for me, probably sth to consider later |
[14:39] | agneli: i have this: www-misc/htdig-3.2.0_beta6-r5 |
[14:40] | krushia: yeah thats what i have but it needed a small patch to build |
[14:40] | agneli: hmmm on this machine it apparently built with no issues |
[14:40] | agneli: probably installed before gcc-14 |
[14:41] | agneli: as issue started with gcc-14 |
[14:41] | krushia: www-misc/hldig-1.0.2 is in tdm repo but unused |
[14:41] | krushia: yeah i used gcc-14 |
[14:42] | krushia: i'm really impressed with old konqueror's ability to instantly list files |
[14:43] | krushia: idk whats wrong with dolphin6 but its slow as hell |
[14:45] | agneli: CFLAGS="-Wno-implicit-function-declaration ${CFLAGS}" |
[14:45] | agneli: this is waht I did |
[14:45] | krushia: ah, that should fix the tdm error |
[14:46] | agneli: again |
[14:46] | agneli: same htdig version |
[14:46] | agneli: www-misc/htdig-3.2.0_beta6-r5 |
[14:46] | agneli: i craed a htdig.conf file in the /etc/portage/env |
[14:46] | agneli: then just added that in the /etc/portage/packages.env |
[14:46] | agneli: (package |
[14:47] | agneli: *package |
[14:47] | agneli: :) |
[14:47] | agneli has no idea what dolphin is |
[14:48] | krushia: filemanager in kde 4/5/6 |
[14:48] | agneli: krushia: what do you mean by being impressed etc? |
[14:48] | krushia: trinity is fast |
[14:49] | agneli: I do not use KDE >=4+ |
[14:49] | a-865 has quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds) |
[14:49] | agneli: enevyrhing is fast on gentoo I guess if you prepare your system properly :) |
[14:50] | agneli: as long as you can stomach compile times even 20yrs old device will be sort of OK |
[14:50] | krushia: i just upgraded from kde 5 to kde 6 and everything is a tad slower yet again. finally decided to give trinity a try out of spite. |
[14:50] | agneli: nothign on this planet is nicer thatn tde |
[14:51] | agneli: i was so happy to discover kde 3.5.x was forked |
[14:51] | agneli: and so unhappy i discovered it so late |
[14:51] | agneli: :) |
[14:52] | krushia: i'm used to using a tiling setup across 4 monitors that will take some time to implement on tde |
[14:52] | agneli: anyway I am happy u r here and I hope you stay |
[14:52] | agneli: so I am not alone with my gentoo here |
[14:52] | agneli: :) |
[14:52] | krushia: :) |
[14:53] | agneli: i sm not usre I understand |
[14:53] | agneli: I have few workstations with 3 monitors and it works just perfect |
[14:53] | agneli: only issues I have with one bigger monitor |
[14:54] | agneli: but that was related to the driver and shifting to proprietary fiexed stuff immediately |
[14:54] | agneli: bloody nvidia |

[15:18] | krushia: i was getting weird colors on one monitor but haven't looked into it yet |
[15:23] | agneli: what is your gpu? |
[15:24] | krushia: amd, r600 and oland. they work together using some kinda black magic. |
[15:26] | agneli: u hv all monitors connected to only one of them? |
[15:28] | krushia: no, 2 on one and 2 on the other, but radeon driver unifies them using some feature i forget the name of. |
[15:28] | agneli: eyefinity probably |
[15:48] | agneli: guys anythign wrong with gitea? |
[15:48] | agneli: it rejects my login |
[16:01] | agneli: just for the sake of it I used forgot password option and nothing was sent to me (checked spam) |
[16:02] | agneli: and to be sure - yesterday it worked |
[17:21] | agneli: it works now, probably magic :) |
