[00:11]charltonh: Hey guys: I found a webpage that consistently crashes brave-bin and then crashes twin.
[00:11]charltonh: This is on 14.1.2 though (Gentoo)
[00:12]charltonh: I think it's related to rendering hebrew or other unicode characters
[00:15]charltonh: I noticed it'll crash konsole as well in vim

[02:36]Fat-Zer: charltonh: so... can you share a link? does it crashes only brave?
[02:38]Fat-Zer: or which exact character crashes konsole?

[04:41]charltonh: Fat-Zer: Wow, how do you do!
[04:42]charltonh: Yes, the link, sorry: it is: https://x.com/Unpopular82/status/1956199969578238432
[04:43]charltonh: Just by going there, in brave-bin, it crashes my whole trinity desktop!
[04:43]charltonh: I also noticed hebrew unicode will crash konsole, but not xterm
[04:44]charltonh: Actually not the whole desktop, just twin, but that's pretty bad.

[04:45]charltonh: Since x.com feeds posts based on who you are, I am not 100% sure it'll crash you. Also, it's on 14.1.2
[04:56]charltonh: kinda amusing that hebrew crashes trinity, somewhat understandable.
[05:24]charltonh: I wonder if twin tries to put hebrew in the title of the window and it crashes?
[05:58]Fat-Zer: charltonh: hey... still on kicking...
[05:58]Fat-Zer: yep sounds somewhat symbolic=)... even ominous
[06:00]Fat-Zer: I've looked into it a bit and it seems that on 14.1.2 even passing hebrew into konqueror bar crashes it
[06:01]Fat-Zer: though I can't reproduce it on master or 14.1.4, so the problem is probabley already fixed
[06:02]Fat-Zer: for the record arabic does the same, so I suppose there were some problem with all rtl scripts

[07:49]charltonh: still kicking... that's great but I'm getting old! I asked the AI what about trinity... it said it's only for people with "nostalgia"... I realized about an hour or so later fuck that shit... We are correct on this. If maintainers are needed I might step up.
[07:53]charltonh: Arabic too... symbolic.

[07:55]charltonh: I was surpised 14.1.2 is the latest on Gentoo when 14.1.4 is out.

[13:14]Fat-Zer: charltonh: well I personally consider myself more of a stubborn nut-job who refuses to move on rather than nostalgic =). More maintainers are always welcome. In any form: bug reporting, coding, translations.
[13:16]Fat-Zer: as for 14.1.4 release for gentoo, I'm currently finishing it up, but I want to squash as many pre-existing bugs first to avoid rev-bumps later.
[13:17]Fat-Zer: You may checkout preliminary version in `release/r14.1.4` branch of the overlay
[13:41]pitriss_ is now known as pitriss
[13:44]pitriss: Hi, hehe about nostalgia.. what is nostalgic on using the same DE since KDE3.5 when it works like charm? This thing windows will never provide.. stable, not confusing DE.. IMO it's not nostalgia but convenience..
[13:47]pitriss: BTW guys, do anyone use multiple screens? Because only one thing that I did not figured out in years using are libnotify popups who appears randomly on screen.. I would love to have option to pin them somewhere..
[13:48]pitriss: I tried many dameons to provide this function.. but then those popups aren't native.. :( :D
[13:50]pitriss: And I got one wild idea.. I might like "Konversations OSD" like standalone notification daemon :)
[14:02]ceux: its not nostalgia
[14:02]ceux: like kde3.5 is not that old.
[14:02]ceux: that is to say.... why are we rushing
[15:05]Fat-Zer: pitriss: just for the record, by "multiple screens" do you mean "several monitors coupled via xinerama/xrandr" or "multiple X11 Screens"?
[15:06]Fat-Zer: either way I probably won't be able to help as I've never came about to use the libnotify notifications

[19:51]charltonh: Nostalgia my ass... lite desktops are in vogue, but nothing out there beats Trinity.
[20:04]charltonh: But... stability is huge. twin crashes and what can you do?
[20:05]charltonh: Gonna try 14.1.4 on my VM.
[20:18]charltonh: As for other bugs, trinity-base/kxsldbg-14.1.2 didn't compile on either system.
[21:08]Fat-Zer: charltonh: well, as for kxsldbg, we are waiting what upsteram has to say: https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tde-packaging-gentoo/issues/432
[21:08]Fat-Zer: I'll try to catch sam and kick him to decide on the issue
[21:11]Fat-Zer: as for Gentoo, the overlay fall out of maintenance for year and a half, that's why there are no new releases.
