[07:45]micheleC: @Fat-Zer: about "was tdeinstance.h rename supposed to go into 14.1.x?" I discussed with Slavek. Since it was only file renaming (no API change since the class was already TDEInstance) we ecided to backport, to make easy backporting patches in general

[09:10]Fat-Zer: micheleC: I see, that's reasonable... though if we are maintaining the API compat in minor branches, the remove of kinstance.h shouldn't been backported.
[09:15]Fat-Zer: *backward compatibility
[09:15]a-865 has joined
[09:17]micheleC: I don't disagree, on the other hand it isn't a true API change. It is more of a source change without effect on API or ABI
[09:17]micheleC: perhaps in hindsight we should not have done it, but it is too late for that now :-)
[09:26]Fat-Zer: Well... I know it's more of a pretend act that we are actually maintaining the compatibility since I don't think that anyone ever tried to build 14.1.0 sources against current 14.1.x tdelibs... And I highly suspect they would fail miserably if they did...
[09:27]micheleC: I wouldn't be surprised :-D let's say we try to minimize API/ABI changes in R14.1.x, it's more realistic
[09:31]Fat-Zer: and as for too late... a single revert won't break anyone's back ;)

[18:29]charltonh: HELP! twin keeps crashing on me I need to update to 14.1.4. What repo do I point to in Gentoo?
[18:30]charltonh: Or perhaps I can just update trinity-base/twin ?
[18:31]charltonh: ...why is twin4 in trinity-base if it's just a connect-4 game?
[18:50]ceux: backtrace
[18:50]ceux: charltonh: on gentoo it depends on the packer.
[18:50]ceux: who is packaging
[18:50]ceux: in debian it looks like its in its own package twin4-trinity
[18:51]ceux: charltonh: it was probably named twin4 before kwin got renamed to twin
[18:52]zubairs_ has joined
[19:45]Fat-Zer: charltonh: sorry, not ready yet, I'll hopefully finish next week... preliminary version is available in the "release/r14.1.4" branch (don't confuse with r14.1.r), but it may create difficulties later, when you later switch to master
[19:50]Fat-Zer: so try it out only if you know how to deal with merge file conflicts
[19:53]Fat-Zer: twin4 in tde-base/ is because at one point it was decided to move all core-derived packages to tde-base/. And keep tde-apps only for ExtraGear packages (and koffice).
[19:54]Fat-Zer: ceux: if it's the same issue as before, 14.1.2 can't handle r2l text and just crashes.
[19:57]Fat-Zer: and another problem, I'm not sure how portage handle branches in overlays
[19:57]Fat-Zer: especially when they are force-pushed
