[17:10]marzosh: Fat-Zer hello again! Are you the guy of gentoo ebuilds?
[17:16]Fat-Zer: marzosh: hi, yes, I guess I am
[17:21]marzosh: I think it's easier for me to fix the PKGBUILDs by basing them on gentoo ebuilds... I get a bit lost with the way debian does things. I'm testing the packages I installed (everything, basically) to see if I run into many errors and things to fix. On gentoo, is everything running smoothly? If it's stable there, I can probably port the fixes more
[17:21]marzosh: easily
[17:22]marzosh: are you running gentoo with openrc?
[17:26]Fat-Zer: yes, but ebuilds support both systemd and openrc
[17:27]Fat-Zer: I don't know a lot about Arch, so I'm not wure what you can get from ebuilds... and also don't we have Arch build scripts already?
[17:28]Fat-Zer: here: https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tde-packaging/src/branch/master/arch
[17:28]marzosh: yeah and it is amazing!
[17:28]Fat-Zer: wouldn't it be easier to start with them?
[17:29]Fat-Zer: also note that gentoo doesn't package all the available applications
[17:34]marzosh: I went ahead and built all the packages using that sequence script. Since it's for Artix and not Arch, I had to tweak a few things. For instance, in the tdebase PKGBUILD, I stripped out the systemd dependency. Also, some dependencies weren't available in the Artix repos, so I had to build those too to keep the sequence going. Basically, the heavy
[17:34]marzosh: lifting is done, now it's just about polishing things for Artix
[17:34]marzosh: alright I didnt't notice it
[17:38]marzosh: Do you think the trinity team would be interested in this work, or is it unnecessary from your perspective?
[17:42]Fat-Zer: most likely, yes... if you don't have anywhere to put your packages to we probably will be glad to include them into the tde-packaging repo
[17:42]Fat-Zer: s/packages/package repo/
[17:43]marzosh: nice, glad to hear ;D
[17:46]Fat-Zer: you may also catch SlavekB or micheleC on the channel.
[17:47]marzosh: ok, thx for guidance
[17:49]Fat-Zer: np
[17:50]marzosh: just one last question: is there a specific reason for not packaging every application for gentoo?
[17:55]Fat-Zer: not really... mostly just laziness... but as of practical considerations, most of them weren't ported to cmake yet and autoools support in the eclasses while functional can still bring surprises
