[11:10]micheleC: @ceux how about TDEMix? or TDEMixer? TMix is a bit... I don't know, it doesn't sound too great. Also users may not realize it is not KMix just renamed, so a slightly different name is better, hence the longer "mixer" in it?
[11:10]micheleC: btw, would it still offer kmix functionality if Pulse is not installed?
[11:21]SlavekB: I hope that it will then be possible to combine everything so that there can be one new successor to the existing kmix.
[11:31]micheleC: that would be the best, which is why I asked for a PR to be published for RFC and review
[11:38]ceux: understood. i just can't do it
[11:40]ceux: meaning....i have no way to test the sun backend or oss4 one
[11:41]SlavekB: I would say, it doesn't matter at this point. Later we will combine efforts to try to merge it into one application again.
[11:43]SlavekB: I have currently changed the limit on the number of repositories in your TGW account so that you can create your own repository and push code there.
[12:08]inverted_rabbit: Arch has updated libical to 4.0.0, which is not compatible with 3.x. Kmail, KAddressBook, Kontact, and others will not work on a fully updated system.
[12:10]SlavekB: inverted_rabbit, thanks for the warning. I'll try to prepare a package update over the weekend.
[12:11]inverted_rabbit: Appreciate it. I'm downgrading packages for now.
[12:12]micheleC: probably good to open an issue on TGW. This sounds like something we need to fix for R14.1.7
[12:13]SlavekB: It is true that it is not yet clear whether a rebuild will be enough or whether it will require some changes.
[12:13]inverted_rabbit: Oof. Also compiled for libicu 69 and we're on 78.
[12:14]inverted_rabbit: SlavekB, micheleC: Thankfully it seems they provided a helpful migration guide.
[12:14]inverted_rabbit: https://github.com/libical/libical/blob/4.0/docs/MigrationGuide_to_4.md
[12:14]micheleC: oh, I thought the comment meant libical 4 is not compatible with 3 in terms of API. Did I misunderstand?

[12:17]inverted_rabbit: What would be the appropriate repo to open this issue on?

[12:19]SlavekB: tdepim
[12:19]SlavekB: Kmail, KAddressBook, Kontact,... all is from tdepim.
[12:19]inverted_rabbit: Ah thanks. Was trying to find them.

[13:36]ceux: OK thank you slavek/michael. I will see if i can do a repository as well...
[13:57]ceux: I can test out ALSA for sure, thats not a problem.
[13:57]ceux: Later we will combine efforts to try to merge it into one application again. combine everything so that there can be one new successor to the existing kmix.
[13:58]ceux: i am going to _not_ abstract it. that is, it's not a soundwidget, its gonna be a pulsewidget. and the alsa can implement its own. i think it only works this way because i ran into issues in kmix where trying to add features onto abstractions caused me issues. but this so far is mostly just a pulse one...

[15:15]nortti: hi. I'm running tde on arch using the trinity repo. after update today, kmail fails with "kmail: error while loading shared libraries: libical.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". presumably this is because the upgrade bumped libical to the major version 4, meaning the users would need to be rebuilt
[15:15]nortti: what is the correct place to report this?
[15:16]SlavekB: Hi Nortti, it is already reported - see TDE/tdepim#192
[15:16]tde-bot: Making sure you're not a bot!
[15:16]tde-bot: https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tdepim/issues/192
[15:16]nortti: ah, thank you
[15:17]SlavekB: We need to verify whether a simple rebuild is enough or whether a change in the API will require changes in the code.
[15:17]SlavekB: In any case, it's nice to know that the effort to build packages for Arch is not wasted :)
[15:19]nortti: yeah, been running it on a 2013-vintage hp elitebook and it's really makes the system fly
